On Thursday, December 11, 2025, our CEO Higuchi took the stage at “Tsukuba Startup Night.”
Tsukuba Startup Night is held as a “venue” to discuss the social implementation of startups in the AI era, the role of administrative support, and the expectations startups have for Tsukuba, all under the theme “The Startup Ecosystem of TSUKUBA Created by AI, Cities, and People.” It aims to connect these discussions to next steps and provide a space to meet fellow innovators.
Since 2017, Tsukuba City has promoted startup support aimed at commercializing research outcomes and solving societal challenges, leveraging the Tsukuba Science City as its foundation.
In 2020, it established the “Tsukuba Startup Ecosystem Consortium” to advance the creation of an ecosystem where academia, support organizations, and government collaborate.
Recent years have seen progress in international collaboration with the US, Europe, and Asia, as well as the formation of life science innovation hubs by private companies.
Within this context, Tsukuba City Hall plays the role of “coordinating the ecosystem” and “supporting challengers,” with ensuring reliability and safety in the social implementation of AI being a particularly important theme.
